Let’s Talk About Money

Money is still a taboo subject for most people. Research suggests that money is one of the biggest sources of stress, anxiety and worry for a lot of people. It can seem scary, complex and emotionally charged.  As such many people find it difficult to talk about money.

In my podcast - Real Money Stories - I speak to people from all types of backgrounds about their money journey and what they’ve learned. My hope is that by sharing money experiences we can all break the taboo of talking about money and use it more wisely, so we worry less and live more.

This week (18-25th November) the Money and Pensions Service (MAPS) has launched Talk Money Week to get people to talk about their relationship with money, so they feel more confident, capable and inspired to make better financial decisions.

MAPS has lots of useful information and tools to help you start your money conversation:

MAPS can also provide personal help and guidance:

The MAPS website also offers a range of guides and tools to help you understand and manage money better on their website.

The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) website also offers lots of useful information on the key things you need help with managing your money. And if you need individual help and advice on more pressing things like mananging debt, handling bills or just getting a handle on your spending, you can speak to one of their money advisers online, on the phone or face to face.

So why not talk about money this week, either with yourself or someone else, educate yourself on an area of your money that needs attention, or seek some help from MAPS or your local CAB?

If you can improve just one area of your finances which will give you the biggest improvement, it will help build your confidence.

You can, you must, you will be better with money. It all starts with a simple conversation.

I wish you all the best of luck.

Warm regards,

Jason
